First ReadingExodus 40:16-21, 34-38

From the Book of Exodus

16Moses did so.According to all that the Lord commanded him, so he did.

17In the first month in the second year,on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was raised up.18Moses raised up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up its boards, and put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.19He spread the covering over the tent, and put the roof of the tabernacle above on it,as the Lord commanded Moses.20He took and put the covenant into the ark,and set the poles on the ark,and put the mercy seat above on the ark.21He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the covenant,as the Lord commanded Moses.

verses 22–33 are not read34Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the Lord’s glory filled the tabernacle.35Moses wasn’t able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud stayed on it,and the Lord’s glory filled the tabernacle.36When the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys;37but if the cloud wasn’t taken up,then they didn’t travel until the daythat it was taken up.38For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day,and there was fire in the cloud by night,in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 84:3, 4, 5-6a and 8a, 11

3My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the Lord.My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

4Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, Lord of Armies, my King, and my God.

5Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you.6Blessed are those whose strength is in you,who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage.8They go from strength to strength.Every one of them appears before God in Zion.

11For a day in your courts is better than a thousand.I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

GospelMatthew 13:47-53

From the Gospel according to Matthew

47“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnetthat was cast into the seaand gathered some fish of every kind,48which, when it was filled, fishermen drew up on the beach. They sat down and gathered the good into containers, but the bad they threw away.49So it will be in the end of the world. The angels will comeand separate the wicked from among the righteous,50and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”51Jesus said to them,“Have you understood all these things?”

They answered him, “Yes, Lord.”

52He said to them, “Therefore every scribewho has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a manwho is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things.”

53When Jesus had finished these parables,he departed from there.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Timótheum

2 Tim 2:8-10; 3:10-12.

Lesson from the second letter of St Paul the Apostle to Timothy

2 Tim. 2:8-10; 3:10-12.

Beloved: Remember that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and was descended from David; this is my Gospel, in which I suffer even to bonds, as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound. This is why I bear all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with heavenly glory. But you have closely followed my doctrine, my conduct, my purpose, my faith, my long-suffering, my love, my patience, my persecutions, my afflictions; such as befell me at Antioch, Iconium and Lystra - such persecutions as I suffered, and out of them all the Lord delivered me. And all who want to live piously in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

Ja 1:12

Beátus vir, qui suffert tentatiónem: quóniam, cum probátus fúerit, accípiet corónam vitæ. Allelúja.

Ps 91:13; 91:14

The just man shall flourish like the palm tree, like a cedar of Lebanon shall he grow in the house of the Lord.

Ps 91:3

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 10:1-9

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 10:1-9

At that time, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them forth two by two before Him into every town and place where He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest. Go. Behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry neither purse, nor wallet, nor sandals, and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if a son of peace be there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they have; for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. And whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you, and cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’

And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
