First Reading1 Corinthians 2:10b-16

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

10But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.11For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?Even so, no one knows the things of God except God’s Spirit.12But we received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God,that we might know the thingsthat were freely given to us by God.13We also speak these things, not in words which man’s wisdom teachesbut which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.14Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him;and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.15But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is to be judged by no one.16“For who has known the mind of the Lordthat he should instruct him?”But we have Christ’s mind.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 145:8-9, 10-11, 12-13ab, 13cd-14

8The Lord is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving kindness.9The Lord is good to all.His tender mercies are over all his works.

10All your works will give thanks to you, Lord.Your saints will extol you.11They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power,

12to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

13The Lord is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.14The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.

GospelLuke 4:31-37

From the Gospel according to Luke

31He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,32and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.33In the synagogue there was a manwho had a spirit of an unclean demon;and he cried out with a loud voice,34saying, “Ah!what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth?Have you come to destroy us?I know who you are:the Holy One of God!”

35Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!”When the demon had thrown him down in the middle of them,he came out of him, having done him no harm.

36Amazement came on all and they spoke together, one with another, saying,“What is this word? For with authorityand power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”37News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.

Eccli 31:8-11

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Sir 31:8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 19:12-26

In illo témpore: Dixit Jesus discípulis suis parábolam hanc: Homo quidam nóbilis ábiit in regionem longínquam accípere sibi regnum, et revérti.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 19:12-26

At that time, Jesus spoke this parable to His disciples: A certain nobleman went into a far country to obtain for himself a kingdom and then return. And having summoned ten of his servants, he gave them ten gold pieces and said to them, ‘Trade till I come.’ But his citizens hated him; and they sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not wish this man to be king over us.’ And it came to pass when he had returned, after receiving the kingdom, that he ordered the servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him in order that he might learn how much each one had made by trading. And the first came, saying, ‘Lord, your gold piece has earned ten gold pieces.’ And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten towns.’ Then the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your gold piece has made five gold pieces.’ And he said to him, ‘Be you also over five towns.’ And another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold your gold piece, which I have kept laid up in a napkin; for I feared you, because you are a stern man. You take up what you did not sow.’ He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I am a stern man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow. Why, then, did you not put my money in a bank, so that I on my return might have gotten it with interest?’ And he said to the bystanders, ‘Take away the gold piece from him, and give it to him who has the ten gold pieces.’ But they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten gold pieces.’ I say to you that to everyone who has shall be given; but from him who does not have, even that which he has shall be taken away.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord.
