First ReadingEphesians 4:1-6

From the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians

1I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling withwhich you were called,2with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love,3being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling,5one Lord, one faith, one baptism,6one God and Father of all,who is over all and through all and in us all.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 24:1-2, 3-4ab, 5-6

1The earth is the Lord’s, with its fullness;the world, and those who dwell in it.2For he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods.

3Who may ascend to the Lord’s hill?Who may stand in his holy place?4He who has clean hands and a pure heart;who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.

5He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, righteousness from the God of his salvation.6This is the generation of those who seek Him,who seek your face—even Jacob.

GospelLuke 12:54-59

From the Gospel according to Luke

54He said to the multitudes also,“When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say,‘A shower is coming,’and so it happens.55When a south wind blows, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.56You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky,but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?

57“Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?58For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.59I tell you, you will by no means get out of there until you have paid the very last penny.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Ephésios

Ephes 5:15-21

Subjecti ínvicem in timóre Christi.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians

Eph 5:15-21

Brethren: See to it that you walk with care: not as unwise but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, for in that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

Ps 107:2

Parátum cor meum, Deus, parátum cor meum: cantábo, et psallam tibi, glória mea. Allelúja.

Ps 144:15-16

The eyes of all look hopefully to You, O Lord, and You give them their food in due season.

℣.You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Alleluia, alleluia.

Ps 107:2

℣.My heart is steadfast, O God; my heart is steadfast; I will sing and chant praise to You, my glory. Alleluia.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 4:46-53

In illo témpore: Erat quidam régulus, cujus fílius infirmabátur Caphárnaum.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 4:46-53

At that time, there was a certain royal official whose son was lying sick at Capharnaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and besought Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders, you do not believe. The royal official said to Him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said to him, Go your way, your son lives. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and departed. But even as he was now going down, his servants met him and brought word saying that his son lived. He asked of them therefore the hour in which he had got better. And they told him, Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him. The father knew then that it was at that very hour in which Jesus had said to him, Your son lives. And he himself believed, and his whole household.
