First ReadingActs 8:1b-8

From the Acts of the Apostles

1Saul was consenting to his death.A great persecution arose against the assemblywhich was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.2Devout men buried Stephen and lamented greatly over him.3But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every houseand dragged both men and women off to prison.4Therefore thosewho were scattered abroad went around preaching the word.5Philip went down to the city of Samariaand proclaimed to them the Christ.6The multitudes listened with one accord to the thingsthat were spoken by Philip when they heardand saw the signs which he did.7For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.8There was great joy in that city.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 66:1-3a, 4-5, 6-7a

1Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!2Sing to the glory of his name!Offer glory and praise!3Tell God, “How awesome are your deeds!Through the greatness of your power, your enemies submit themselves to you.

4All the earth will worship you,and will sing to you;they will sing to your name.”5Come, and see God’s deeds—awesome work on behalf of the children of men.

6He turned the sea into dry land. They went through the river on foot. There, we rejoiced in him.7He rules by his might forever. His eyes watch the nations.Don’t let the rebellious rise up against him.

GospelJohn 6:35-40

From the Gospel according to John

35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.36But I told you that you have seen me,and yet you don’t believe.37All those whom the Father gives me will come to me.He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.38For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.39This is the will of my Father who sent me,that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.40This is the will of the one who sent me,that everyone who sees the Sonand believes in him should have eternal life;and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst gift thine holy servant Paul with great love that he might preach the mystery of thy cross, and hast been pleased that through him a new family should grow up in thy Church, grant unto us at his prayers that upon earth we may so call thy sufferings to mind as worthily to gain the fruit thereof in heaven.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corinthios

1 Cor 1:17-25.

Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

1 Cor 1:17-25.

Brothers: Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made void. For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the prudence of the prudent I will reject. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world, by wisdom, knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of our preaching, to save them that believe. For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling-block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

GradualGraduale

Allelúja, allelúja.

2 Cor 5:15

Alleluja, alleluja

2 Cor 5:15

And Christ died for all; that they also who live, may not now live to themselves, but unto him who died for them, and rose again. Alleluja.

Rom 8:17

And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God, and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. Alleluja.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 10:1-9

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 10:1-9

At that time, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them forth two by two before Him into every town and place where He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest. Go. Behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry neither purse, nor wallet, nor sandals, and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if a son of peace be there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they have; for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. And whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you, and cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
