First ReadingDeuteronomy 34:1-12

From the Book of Deuteronomy

1Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo,to the top of Pisgah, that is opposite Jericho. The Lord showed him all the land of Gilead to Dan,2and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah,to the Western Sea,3and the south, and the Plain of the valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, to Zoar.4The Lord said to him,“This is the land which I swore to Abraham,to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.”

5So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the Lord’s word.6He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth Peor, but no man knows where his tomb is to this day.7Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died. His eye was not dim, nor his strength gone.8The children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the days of weeping in the mourning for Moses were ended.9Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him.The children of Israel listened to him,and did as the Lord commanded Moses.10Since then, there has not arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,11in all the signs and the wonderswhich the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt,to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,12and in all the mighty hand, and in all the awesome deeds, which Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 66:1-3a, 5 and 8, 16-17

1Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!2Sing to the glory of his name!Offer glory and praise!3Tell God, “How awesome are your deeds!Through the greatness of your power, your enemies submit themselves to you.

5Come, and see God’s deeds—awesome work on behalf of the children of men.8Praise our God, you peoples!Make the sound of his praise heard,

16Come and hear, all you who fear God.I will declare what he has done for my soul.17I cried to him with my mouth. He was extolled with my tongue.

GospelMatthew 18:15-20

From the Gospel according to Matthew

15“If your brother sins against you,go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.16But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector.18Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven.19Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask,it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios

2 Cor 3:4-9

Lesson from the second letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

2 Cor. 3:4-9

Brethren: Such is the assurance I have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything, as from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God. He also it is Who has made us fit ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the spirit; for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. Now if the ministration of death, which was engraved in letters upon stones, was inaugurated in such glory that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly upon the face of Moses on account of the transient glory that shone upon it, shall not the ministration of the spirit be still more glorious? For if there is glory in the ministration that condemned, much more does the ministration that justifies abound in glory.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 10:23-37

At ille dixit: Qui fecit misericórdiam in illum. Et ait illi Jesus: Vade, et tu fac simíliter.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 10:23-37

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I say to you, many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and they have not seen it; and to hear what you hear, and they have not heard it. And behold, a certain lawyer got up to test Him, saying, Master, what must I do to gain eternal life? But He said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read? He answered and said, You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole strength, and with your whole mind; and your neighbor as yourself. And He said to him, You have answered rightly; do this and you shall live. But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor? Jesus answered and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell in with robbers, who after both stripping him and beating him went their way, leaving him half-dead. But, as it happened, a certain priest was going down the same way; and when he saw him, he passed by. And likewise a Levite also, when he was near the place and saw him, passed by. But a certain Samaritan as he journeyed came upon him, and seeing him, was moved with compassion. And he went up to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And setting him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I, on my way back, will repay you.’ Which of these three, in your opinion, proved himself neighbor to him who fell among the robbers? And he said, He who took pity on him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do also in like manner.

Exod 32:11 32:13; 32:14

Moses prayed in the sight of the Lord his God and said, Why, O Lord, is Your indignation enkindled against Your people? Let the anger of Your mind cease; remember Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to whom You swore to give a land flowing with milk and honey. And the Lord was appeased from doing the evil which He had spoken of doing against His people.
