First ReadingGalatians 2:1-2, 7-14

From the Letter of Paul to the Galatians

1Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.2I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the Good Newswhich I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running,or had run, in vain. verses 3–6 are not read7but to the contrary, when they sawthat I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcised, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcised—8for he who worked through Peter in the apostleship with the circumcised also worked through me with the Gentiles—9and when they perceived the grace that was given to me,James and Cephas and John, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.10They only asked us to remember the poor—which very thing I was also zealous to do.

11But when Peter came to Antioch,I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.12For before some people came from James,he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came,he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.13And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy,so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.14But when I sawthat they didn’t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News,I said to Peter before them all,“If you, being a Jew,live as the Gentiles do,and not as the Jews do,why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 117:1bc, 2

1Praise the Lord, all you nations!Extol him, all you peoples!

2For his loving kindness is great toward us.The Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.Praise the Lord!

GospelLuke 11:1-4

From the Gospel according to Luke

1When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him,“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

2He said to them, “When you pray, say,

‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.May your Kingdom come.May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.3Give us day by day our daily bread.4Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”

EpistleLectio

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Eccli 31:8-11

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Sir 31:8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

GradualGraduale

Ja 1:12

Beátus vir, qui suffert tentatiónem: quóniam, cum probátus fúerit, accípiet corónam vitæ. Allelúja.

Ps 91:13; 91:14

The just man shall flourish like the palm tree, like a cedar of Lebanon shall he grow in the house of the Lord.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 12:35-40

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:35-40

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.
