First ReadingDeuteronomy 18:15-20

From the Book of Deuteronomy

15The Lord your God will raise up to you a prophet from among you,of your brothers, like me.You shall listen to him.16This is according to allthat you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, “Let me not hear again the Lord my God’s voice, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die.”

17The Lord said to me,“They have well said that which they have spoken.18I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you.I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.19It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my wordswhich he shall speak in my name,I will require it of him.20But the prophetwho speaks a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak,or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.”

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 7-9

1Oh come, let’s sing to the Lord.Let’s shout aloud to the rock of our salvation!2Let’s come before his presence with thanksgiving.Let’s extol him with songs!

6Oh come, let’s worship and bow down.Let’s kneel before the Lord, our Maker,7for he is our God.We are the people of his pasture,

7and the sheep in his care.Today, oh that you would hear his voice!8Don’t harden your heart, as at Meribah,as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,9when your fathers tempted me,tested me, and saw my work.

Second Reading1 Corinthians 7:32-35

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

32But I desire to have you to be free from cares. He who is unmarried is concerned for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;33but he who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife.34There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband.35This I say for your own benefit, not that I may ensnare you,but for that which is appropriate, and that you may attend to the Lord without distraction.

GospelMark 1:21-28

From the Gospel according to Mark

21They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.22They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.23Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,24saying, “Ha!What do we have to do with you, Jesus, you Nazarene?Have you come to destroy us?I know who you are:the Holy One of God!”

25Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”

26The unclean spirit, convulsing himand crying with a loud voice, came out of him.27They were all amazed,so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What can this new doctrine be?For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!”28The report of him went out immediately into all the region of Galileeand its surrounding area.

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános.

Rom 13:8-10

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 13:8-10

Brethren: Owe no man anything except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law. For You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not covet; and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the Law.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum.

Matt 8:23-27

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew

Matt 8:23-27

At that time, Jesus got into a boat, and His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was covered by the waves; but He was asleep. So they came and woke Him, saying, Lord, save us! we are perishing! But He said to them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the sea, and there came a great calm. And the men marvelled, saying, What manner of Man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
