First ReadingActs 14:19-28

From the Acts of the Apostles

19But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

20But as the disciples stood around him,he rose up, and entered into the city.On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.

21When they had preached the Good News tothat city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra,Iconium, and Antioch,22strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom.23When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they had believed.

24They passed through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia.25When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.26From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the workwhich they had fulfilled.27When they had arrivedand had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.28They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 145:10-11, 12-13ab, 21

10All your works will give thanks to you, Lord.Your saints will extol you.11They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power,

12to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.Your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.

21My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord.Let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

GospelJohn 14:27-31a

From the Gospel according to John

27Peace I leave with you.My peace I give to you;not as the world gives, I give to you.Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.28You heard how I told you,‘I am going away, and I will come back to you.’If you loved me, you would have rejoicedbecause I said ‘I am going to my Father;’for the Father is greater than I.29Now I have told you before it happens sothat when it happens, you may believe.30I will no more speak much with you,for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.31But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do.Arise, let’s go from here.

Eccli 31:8-11

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Sir 31:8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 12:35-40

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:35-40

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.

PrefacePrefatio

Paschalis

Easter

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially in this season when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
