First ReadingIsaiah 66:18-21

From the Book of Isaiah

18“For I know their works and their thoughts. The time comesthat I will gather all nations and languages, and they will come, and will see my glory.

19“I will set a sign among them, and I will send those who escape of them to the nations,to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud,who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan,to far-away islands, who have not heard my fame, nor have seen my glory;and they shall declare my glory among the nations.20They shall bring all your brothers out of all the nations for an offering to the Lord,on horses, in chariots,in litters, on mules, and on camels, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, as the children of Israel bring their offering in a clean vessel into the Lord’s house.21Of them I will also select priestsand Levites,” says the Lord.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 117:1, 2*

1Praise the Lord, all you nations!Extol him, all you peoples!

2For his loving kindness is great toward us.The Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.Praise the Lord!

Second ReadingHebrews 12:5-7, 11-13

From the Letter to the Hebrews

5You have forgotten the exhortationwhich reasons with you as with children,

“My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;6for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

7It is for discipline that you endure.God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline? verses 8–10 are not read11All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous;yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to thosewho have been trained by it.12Therefore lift up the handsthat hang down and the feeble knees,13and make straight paths for your feet,so what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

GospelLuke 13:22-30

From the Gospel according to Luke

22He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem.23One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?”

He said to them,24“Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in and will not be able.25When once the master of the house has risen upand has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’then he will answer and tell you,‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’26Then you will begin to say,‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’27He will say, ‘I tell you,I don’t know where you come from.Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’28There will be weeping and gnashing of teethwhen you see Abraham,Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in God’s Kingdom, and yourselves being thrown outside.29They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in God’s Kingdom.30Behold, there are some who are last who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.”

EpistleLectio

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Gálatas.

Gal 5:25-26; 6:1-10

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Galatians

Gal 5:25-26; 6:1-10

Brethren: If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk. Let us not become desirous of vainglory, provoking one another, envying one another. Brethren, even if a person is caught doing something wrong, you who are spiritual instruct such a one in a spirit of meekness, considering yourself, lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, whereas he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let everyone test his own work, and so he will have glory in himself only, and not in comparison with another. For each one will bear his own burden. And let him who is instructed in the word share all good things with his teacher. Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what a man sows in the flesh, from the flesh also will reap corruption. But he who sows in the spirit, from the spirit will reap life everlasting. And in doing good let us not grow tired; for in due time we shall reap if we do not relax. Therefore, while we have time, let us do good to all men, but especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 7:11-16

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 7:11-16

At that time, Jesus went into a city called Naim; and His disciples and a large crowd went with Him. And as He drew near the gate of the town, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large gathering from the town was with her. And the Lord, seeing her, had compassion on her, and said to her, Do not weep. And He went up and touched the stretcher; and the bearers stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise. And he who was dead, sat up, and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother. But fear seized upon all, and they began to glorify God, saying, A great prophet has risen among us, and God has visited His people.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
