First ReadingAmos 7:12-15

From the Book of Amos

12Amaziah also said to Amos,“You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there,13but don’t prophesy again any more at Bethel;for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”

14Then Amos answered Amaziah,“I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son,but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs;15and the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me,‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 85:9-10, 11-12, 13-14

9I will hear what God, the Lord, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, his saints;but let them not turn again to folly.10Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

11Mercy and truth meet together.Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.12Truth springs out of the earth.Righteousness has looked down from heaven.

13Yes, the Lord will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase.14Righteousness goes before him,and prepares the way for his steps.

Second ReadingEphesians 1:3-14

From the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians

or Ephesians 1:3-10

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,4even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holyand without defect before him in love,5having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,6to the praise of the glory of his grace,by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved.7In him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace8which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,9making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him10to an administration of the fullness of the times,to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavensand the things on the earth, in him.11We were also assigned an inheritance in him, having been foreordained according to the purpose of himwho does all things after the counsel of his will,12to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory,we who had before hoped in Christ.13In him you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,14who is a pledge of our inheritance,to the redemption of God’s own possession,to the praise of his glory.

GospelMark 6:7-13

From the Gospel according to Mark

7He called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two;and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits.8He commanded themthat they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only:no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse,9but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics.10He said to them, “Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there.11Whoever will not receive you nor hear you,as you depart from there, shake off the dustthat is under your feet for a testimony against them.Assuredly, I tell you,it will be more tolerable for Sodomand Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

12They went out and preached that people should repent.13They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick and healed them.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 8:18-23

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 8:18-23

Brethren: I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come that will be revealed in us. For the eager longing of creation awaits the revelation of the sons of God. For creation was made subject to vanity - not by its own will but by reason of Him Who made it subject - in hope, because creation itself also will be delivered from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the sons of God. For we know that all creation groans and travails in pain until now. And not only it, but we ourselves also who have the first-fruits of the Spirit - we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption as sons of God, the redemption of our body, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ps 9:5; 9:10

Deus, qui sedes super thronum, et júdicas æquitátem: esto refúgium páuperum in tribulatióne. Allelúja.

Ps. 78:9-10

Pardon our sins, O Lord; why should the nations say, Where is their God?

℣.Help us, O God our Saviour; because of the glory of Your name, O Lord, deliver us. Alleluia, alleluia.

Ps. 9:5; 9:10

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 5:1-11

Ascéndens autem in unam navim, quæ erat Simónis, rogávit eum a terra redúcere pusíllum.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 5:1-11

At that time, while the crowds were pressing upon Jesus to hear the word of God, He was standing by Lake Genesareth. And He saw two boats moored by the lake, but the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. And getting into one of the boats, the one that was Simon’s, He asked him to put out a little from the land. And sitting down, He began to teach the crowds from the boat. But when He had ceased speaking, He said to Simon, Put out into the deep, and lower your nets for a catch. And Simon answered and said to Him, Master, the whole night through we have toiled and have taken nothing; but at Your word I will lower the net. And when they had done so, they enclosed a great number of fishes, but their net was breaking. And they beckoned to their comrades in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish they had made; and so were also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Do not be afraid; henceforth you shall catch men. And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all and followed Him.

PrefacePrefatio

Holy Trinity

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only-begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
