First ReadingHebrews 13:15-17, 20-21

From the Letter to the Hebrews

15Through him, then, let’s offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lipswhich proclaim allegiance to his name.16But don’t forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

17Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch on behalf of your souls,as those who will give account, that they may do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be unprofitable for you.

verses 18–19 are not read20Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,21make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ,to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6

1The Lord is my shepherd;I shall lack nothing.2He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.3He restores my soul.

3He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil, for you are with me.Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before mein the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil.My cup runs over.

6Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the Lord’s house forever.

GospelMark 6:30-34

From the Gospel according to Mark

30The apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.31He said to them, “Come away into a deserted place, and rest awhile.”For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.32They went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.33They saw them going, and many recognized himand ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to him.34Jesus came out, saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on thembecause they were like sheep without a shepherd;and he began to teach them many things.

Ps 36:30-31

The mouth of the just man tells of wisdom, and his tongue utters what is right. The law of his God is in his heart. (Alléluia, alléluia.)

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Eccli 31:8-11

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Sir 31:8-11

Happy the man found without fault, who turns not aside after gain, nor puts his trust in money nor in treasures! Who is he, that we may praise him? For he has done wonders in his life. He has been tested by gold and come off safe, and this remains his glory forever; he could have sinned but did not, could have done evil but would not, so that his possessions are secure in the Lord, and the assembly of the Saints shall recount his alms.

GradualGraduale

Ps 91:13; 91:14

Ps 91:3

Ps 91:13; 91:14

The just man shall flourish like the palm tree, like a cedar of Lebanon shall he grow in the house of the Lord.

Ps 91:3

℣.To proclaim Your kindness at dawn and Your faithfulness throughout the night. Alleluia, alleluia.

Jas 1:12

℣.Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been tried, he will receive the crown of life. Alleluia.

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam

Luc 12:35-40

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke

Luke 12:35-40

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
