First ReadingExodus 33:7-11; 34:5b-9, 28

From the Book of Exodus

7Now Moses used to take the tentand pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it “The Tent of Meeting.”Everyone who sought the Lord went out to the Tent of Meeting, which was outside the camp.8When Moses went out to the Tent, all the people rose up,and stood, everyone at their tent door, and watched Moses, until he had gone into the Tent.9When Moses entered into the Tent, the pillar of cloud descended, stood at the door of the Tent, and the Lord spoke with Moses.10All the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent, and all the people rose up and worshiped, everyone at their tent door.11The Lord spoke to Moses face to face,as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn’t depart from the Tent. some verses are not read5The Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the Lord’s name.6The Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, “The Lord! The Lord, a merciful and gracious God,slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth,7keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin;and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children,on the third and on the fourth generation.”

8Moses hurriedand bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.9He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight,Lord, please let the Lord go among us,even though this is a stiff-necked people;pardon our iniquity and our sin,and take us for your inheritance.”

verses 10–27 are not read28He was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights;he neither ate bread, nor drank water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 103:6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13

6The Lord executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed.7He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the children of Israel.

8The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.9He will not always accuse;neither will he stay angry forever.

10He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities.11For as the heavens are high above the earth,so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.

12As far as the east is from the west,so far has he removed our transgressions from us.13Like a father has compassion on his children,so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

GospelMatthew 13:36-43

From the Gospel according to Matthew

36Then Jesus sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. His disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel weeds of the field.”

37He answered them, “Hewho sows the good seed is the Son of Man,38the field is the world, the good seeds are the children of the Kingdom, and the darnel weeds are the children of the evil one.39The enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age,and the reapers are angels.40As therefore the darnel weeds are gathered upand burned with fire;so will it be at the end of this age.41The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all thingsthat cause stumbling and those who do iniquity,42and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.43Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Prov 31:10-31

Lesson from the book of Proverbs

Prov 31:10-31

When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She obtains wool and flax and makes cloth with skillful hands. Like merchant ships, she secures her provisions from afar. She rises while it is still night, and distributes food to her household. She picks out a field to purchase; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is girt about with strength, and sturdy are her arms. She enjoys the success of her dealings; at night her lamp is undimmed. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the spindle. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. She fears not the snow for her household; all her charges are doubly clothed. She makes her own coverlets; fine linen and purple are her clothing. Her husband is prominent at the city gates as he sits with the elders of the land. She makes garments and sells them, and stocks the merchants with belts. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs at the days to come. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and on her tongue is kindly counsel. She watches the conduct of her household, and eats not her food in idleness. Her children rise up and praise her; her husband, too, extols her: Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her a reward of her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 13:44-52

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 13:44-52.

At that time, Jesus spoke this parable to His disciples: The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field; he who finds it hides it, and in his joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he finds a single pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net cast into the sea that gathered in fish of every kind. When it was filled, they hauled it out, and sitting down on the beach, they gathered the good fish into vessels, but threw away the bad. So will it be at the end of the world. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the just, and will cast them into the furnace of fire, where there will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth. Have you understood all these things? They said to Him, Yes. And He said to them, So then, every Scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings forth from his storeroom things new and old.
