First ReadingJude 17, 20b-25

From the Letter of Jude

17But you, beloved, remember the wordswhich have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.

verses 18–19 are not read20But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.21Keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.22On some have compassion, making a distinction,23and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.

24Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy,25to God our Savior, who alone is wise,be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 63:2, 3-4, 5-6

2God, you are my God.I will earnestly seek you.My soul thirsts for you.My flesh longs for you,in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.

3So I have seen you in the sanctuary, watching your power and your glory.4Because your loving kindness is better than life,my lips shall praise you.

5So I will bless you while I live.I will lift up my hands in your name.6My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food.My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,

GospelMark 11:27-33

From the Gospel according to Mark

27They came again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him,28and they began saying to him,“By what authority do you do these things?Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

29Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question.Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.30The baptism of John—was it from heaven, or from men? Answer me.”

31They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we should say, ‘From heaven;’he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’32If we should say, ‘From men’”—they feared the people, for all held John to really be a prophet.33They answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”

Jesus said to them,“Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

Eccli 24:14-16

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Ecclus 24:14-16

Before all ages, in the beginning, He created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be. In the holy Tent I ministered before Him, and in Sion I fixed my abode. Thus in the chosen city He has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain. I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of my God, His heritage, and my abode is in the full assembly of Saints.

Blessed Virgin

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should praise and bless, and proclaim Thee, in the veneratióne of the Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin: Who also conceived Thine only-begotten Son by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, and the glory of her virginity still abiding, gave forth to the world the everlasting Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The Heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with these we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted while we say with lowly praise:

CommunionCommunio

Beáta víscera Maríæ Vírginis, quæ portavérunt ætérni Patris Fílium.

Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, which bore the Son of the eternal Father.
