First ReadingGalatians 3:7-14

From the Letter of Paul to the Galatians

7Know therefore that thosewho are of faith are children of Abraham.8The Scripture, foreseeingthat God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you all the nations will be blessed.”9So then, thosewho are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.

10For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written,“Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all thingsthat are written in the book of the law, to do them.”11Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”12The law is not of faith, but, “The man who does them will live by them.”

13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.For it is written,“Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”14that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 111:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6

1Praise the Lord!I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,in the council of the upright, and in the congregation.2The Lord’s works are great, pondered by all those who delight in them.

3His work is honor and majesty. His righteousness endures forever.4He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered. The Lord is gracious and merciful.

5He has given food to those who fear him.He always remembers his covenant.6He has shown his people the power of his works,in giving them the heritage of the nations.

GospelLuke 11:15-26

From the Gospel according to Luke

15But some of them said,“He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”16Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.17But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation.A house divided against itself falls.18If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.19But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul,by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.20But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.

21“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.22But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him,he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.

23“He who is not with me is against me.He who doesn’t gather with me scatters.

24The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest;and finding none, he says,‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’25When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.26Then he goesand takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Ephésios

Ephes 5:15-21

Subjecti ínvicem in timóre Christi.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians

Eph 5:15-21

Brethren: See to it that you walk with care: not as unwise but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, for in that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem

Joannes 4:46-53

In illo témpore: Erat quidam régulus, cujus fílius infirmabátur Caphárnaum.

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to John

John 4:46-53

At that time, there was a certain royal official whose son was lying sick at Capharnaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and besought Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders, you do not believe. The royal official said to Him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said to him, Go your way, your son lives. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and departed. But even as he was now going down, his servants met him and brought word saying that his son lived. He asked of them therefore the hour in which he had got better. And they told him, Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him. The father knew then that it was at that very hour in which Jesus had said to him, Your son lives. And he himself believed, and his whole household.
