First Reading1 Corinthians 10:14-22

From the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians

14Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.15I speak as to wise men.Judge what I say.16The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?17Because there is one loaf of bread,we, who are many, are one body;for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.18Consider Israel according to the flesh.Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?

19What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything,or that an idol is anything?20But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God,and I don’t desirethat you would have fellowship with demons.21You can’t both drink the cup of the Lordand the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lordand of the table of demons.22Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 116:12-13, 17-18

12What will I give to the Lord for all his benefits toward me?13I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the Lord’s name.

17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on the Lord’s name.18I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes, in the presence of all his people,

GospelLuke 6:43-49

From the Gospel according to Luke

43“For there is no good tree that produces rotten fruit, nor again a rotten tree that produces good fruit.44For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people don’t gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.45The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

46“Why do you call me,‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say?47Everyone who comes to me,and hears my words and does them,I will show you who he is like.48He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it,because it was founded on the rock.49But he who hears and doesn’t do,is like a manwho built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell;and the ruin of that house was great.”

Léctio libri Sapiéntiæ

Eccli 24:14-16

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Ecclus 24:14-16

Before all ages, in the beginning, He created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be. In the holy Tent I ministered before Him, and in Sion I fixed my abode. Thus in the chosen city He has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain. I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of my God, His heritage, and my abode is in the full assembly of Saints.

Blessed Virgin

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should praise and bless, and proclaim Thee, in the veneratióne of the Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin: Who also conceived Thine only-begotten Son by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, and the glory of her virginity still abiding, gave forth to the world the everlasting Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The Heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with these we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted while we say with lowly praise:
