Memorial · Ordinary Time · Sunday Cycle B · Psalter Week 1

First ReadingRevelation 10:8-11

From the Book of Revelation

8The voice which I heard from heaven, again speaking with me,said, “Go, take the bookwhich is open in the hand of the angelwho stands on the sea and on the land.”

9I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book.

He said to me, “Take it and eat it.It will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.”

10I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it.It was as sweet as honey in my mouth. When I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.11They told me, “You must prophesy again over many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 119:14, 24, 72, 103, 111, 131

14I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies,as much as in all riches.

24Indeed your statutes are my delight, and my counselors.

72The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

103How sweet are your promises to my taste, more than honey to my mouth!

111I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.

131I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for your commandments.

GospelLuke 19:45-48

From the Gospel according to Luke

45He entered into the temple and began to drive out thosewho bought and sold in it,46saying to them, “It is written,‘My house is a house of prayer,’but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”

47He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests, the scribes, and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.48They couldn’t find what they might do,for all the people hung on to every word that he said.

Readings in the World English Bible (Catholic Edition), chosen by the Lectionary for Mass. The prayers of the Mass are in the Roman Missal.

Eccli 24:14-16

Lesson from the book of Ecclesiasticus

Ecclus 24:14-16

Before all ages, in the beginning, He created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be. In the holy Tent I ministered before Him, and in Sion I fixed my abode. Thus in the chosen city He has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain. I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of my God, His heritage, and my abode is in the full assembly of Saints.

Blessed Virgin

It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: and that we should praise and bless, and proclaim Thee, in the Presentatione of the Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin: Who also conceived Thine only-begotten Son by the overshadowing of the Holy Ghost, and the glory of her virginity still abiding, gave forth to the world the everlasting Light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominations worship it, and the Powers stand in awe. The Heavens and the heavenly hosts together with the blessed Seraphim in triumphant chorus unite to celebrate it. Together with these we entreat Thee that Thou mayest bid our voices also to be admitted while we say with lowly praise:
