First ReadingExodus 3:1-6, 9-12

From the Book of Exodus

1Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law,the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb.2The Lord’s angel appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the middle of a bush.He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.3Moses said, “I will go now,and see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.”

4When the Lord saw that he came over to see,God called to him out of the middle of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!”

He said, “Here I am.”

5He said, “Don’t come close.Take off your sandals, for the place you are standing on is holy ground.”6Moreover he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”

Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God. verses 7–8 are not read9Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me.Moreover I have seen the oppression withwhich the Egyptians oppress them.10Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

11Moses said to God,“Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

12He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you:when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

Responsorial PsalmPsalm 103:1b-2, 3-4, 6-7

1Praise the Lord, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name!2Praise the Lord, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits,

3who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases,4who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,

6The Lord executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed.7He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the children of Israel.

GospelMatthew 11:25-27

From the Gospel according to Matthew

25At that time, Jesus answered,“I thank you, Father,Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.26Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.27All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father;neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son and he towhom the Son desires to reveal him.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános

Rom 6:19-23

Quem ergo fructum habuístis tunc in illis, in quibus nunc erubéscitis? Nam finis illórum mors est. Nunc vero liberáti a peccáto, servi autem facti Deo, habétis fructum vestrum in sanctificatiónem, finem vero vitam ætérnam. Stipéndia enim peccáti mors. Grátia autem Dei vita ætérna, in Christo Jesu, Dómino nostro.

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans

Rom 6:19-23

Brethren: I speak in a human way because of the weakness of your flesh; for as you yielded your members as slaves of uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity, so now yield your members as slaves of justice unto sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free as regards justice. But what fruit had you then from those things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of these things is death. But now set free from sin and become slaves to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and as your end, life everlasting. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is life everlasting in Christ Jesus our Lord.

GospelEvangelium

Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum

Matt 7:15-21

Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

Matt 7:15-21

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will know them. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father in heaven shall enter the kingdom of heaven.

Dan 3:40

Sicut in holocáustis aríetum et taurórum, et sicut in mílibus agnórum pínguium: sic fiat sacrifícium nostrum in conspéctu tuo hódie, ut pláceat tibi: quia non est confúsio confidéntibus in te, Dómine.

Dan 3:40

As though it were holocausts of rams and bullocks, or thousands of fat lambs, so let our sacrifice be in Your presence today, that it may please You; for those who trust in You cannot be put to shame, O Lord.

O God, You Who have given us in one perfect sacrifice the fulfillment of the various sacrifices made under the Old Law, accept these sacrificial gifts offered You by Your devoted servants, and make them holy as You did the gifts of Abel, so that what each one of us has offered in praise of Your majesty may profit for the salvation of all.
